How to Get Yourself Out of a Life Slump | BassFit.com

We’ve all been there before. A time in your life where nothing seems to go your way. Maybe it’s your job, school, girlfriend, boyfriend, family, or multiple things in your life. You have been trying so hard, putting tons of your energy into getting things to go your way, and now that you have decided you have failed, you are exhausted.

You don’t have any energy. Your hygiene gets worse. No part of life seems to catch your interest. You want to get a job, but you don’t feel as if you have the energy to go on interviews, or that you wont get hired because you’re not good enough. You want to go back to school, but what’s the point, you will just fail out.

Whether its your job, your education, or your relationships, things just don’t seem to be going your way, and it seems like they will never go your way again.

Check out this quote from the movie Blow:

Sometimes you’re flush and sometimes you’re bust, and when you’re up, it’s never as good as it seems, and when you’re down, you never think you’ll be up again, but life goes on.”

This is one of my favorite quotes from a movie ever, and I think it really applies here. Life is going to have ups and downs, but what makes you a better person with the ability to live the best life you possibly can, is how you are able to respond to those low times in your life, and bring yourself back up again. The good thing is, we at BassFit.com, have come up with an easy way to get you back to where you belong… AT THE TOP!

STEP 1

It might seem cliché that a fitness site would say this, but the first thing you should turn towards in your moments of despair is exercise. Not an exerciser? Become one. Because hundreds of studies have shown that when you begin to work on and improve your health and fitness, you will improve all aspects of your life.

Just think about this. We, as humans, are designed to move. Our ancestors hunted buffalos godamnit! They didn’t sit on a rock in their cave, thinking about all the buffalo out there that they could be killing at that moment. They used their God-given abilities and muscular anatomy to hunt down these wild animals and provide for themselves and their families. They were running around almost all day. It is safe to say, when our ancestors were on the hunt and moving their bodies, they were the happiest and their lives were the fullest.

Even though we live different lives in today’s world, our bodies are structured almost exactly the same as earlier humans. We are meant to move. And when we move, we become happier, and have a new perspective on life.

So this is my advice to you. Pick your favorite exercise. Running, cycling, swimming, hiking, yoga, lifting weights. Pick something that you enjoy the most and does not seem like a chore. Start doing this activity every day, but start small! Run half a mile the first day, and run a little more each day. Just make sure you are moving your body and trying to do a little more each day or week. This is the first step to getting your life back on track.

STEP 2

Ok, this section might be a little biased on my part but I promise it will do wonders. My second piece of advice is find a playlists that you love (or create one). BassFit.com specializes in EDM, and we have tons of EDM for you to enjoy, but we know EDM is not for everybody. So just find something that when you listen to it, you think of nothing else. Only good vibes.

Music is very important to getting your life back on track, because unlike exercise, listening to music is probably the easiest and most fun thing to do since speed-walking in the 1990’s. Music is going to lift your soul, send tons of happy chemicals to your brain, keeping you away from your negative thoughts. And there’s one thing I have learned about music over the years. If you listen to enough of it, you will eventually want to dance.

STEP 3

The final step is to combine your favorite playlist with your favorite exercise. Holy cow what a combo. Beware though because once you get lost in the music while you exercise, you will probably lose track of time and end up exercising way longer than you wanted. Don’t worry this is a great thing.

Exercise plus music will send your endorphin levels through the roof! You will no longer need to smoke weed to get high! You will be high from music and exercise. And before you know it, you will have more energy, more clarity, and more happiness than you’ve ever had in your life. Once you do this for a few weeks, you will start to notice a difference, and the rest is history.

But hold up…. How will this change other aspects of my life?

After you start (and starting is the most difficult part), you will start to feel a lot more energized. You will want to run further, cycle longer, and lift more weight. You will want to see more and more progress in your health and fitness, that you will become addicted to this progress.

This is where it gets interesting. This addiction to progress, carries over to ALL parts of your life. You will see that challenging yourself everyday can be very fun, and seeing results from these challenges makes you happier than ever before.

You will want to go out and find a job, finish school, find the relationship you’ve always been looking for, or even make a current one better! This is all caused by one very small decision you made a few weeks back. The decision to take the first baby step towards recreating your life. The decision to improve your health and fitness. And this one decision, is going to change your life forever.
