Performing a series of all out sprints is one of the best cardio activities you can do for your body. Sprinting is a form of HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training), which means that you perform at a high intensity for a short period of time, followed by a resting period or low intensity activity, then you repeat.
Sprinting is also a form of anaerobic exercise. Anaerobic exercise, opposite of aerobic exercise, means that your body is pumping blood so fast to the muscles to perform the activity, that it cannot provide enough oxygen to the muscle cells. Thus, creating an anaerobic effect, causing the muscle cell to work without oxygen for a short period of time.
Anaerobic exercise has been shown to burn more calories from fat than long-term aerobic exercises (such as jogging) because of something called the “After-burn Effect”. This is where the muscles go into an anaerobic period during the high intensity exercise, then returns to aerobic a few minutes after the exercise is complete. However, these cells begin pulling more and more energy throughout the day, after your workout. The energy they pull is in the form of calories, and when you burn more calories in a day (even from the After-burn Effect) then you will start to lose weight.
When performing these high intensity sprints, you want every bit of motivation you can get. This is where you turn to music. But not just any music. You need upbeat, high tempo style music that will match your heart beat, and push your body into overdrive.
If you want to fully optimize your sprints, this is the music you want to listen to. All other music will not get you the same results. Trust me, I have tried everything.
You need some electro house, progressive house, dubstep, or Jauz-like tunes to send signals to your brain that your body means business, and there’s no giving up. The energy this music will create is massive, and will allow you to push through these hard workouts with ease. This is the power of EDM on which BassFit.com preaches.
